Description

These shrimp baskets are the ultimate seafood comfort food! Golden, crispy shrimp paired with homemade fries in a charming basket, served with a side of tartar or cocktail sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 medium potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (for shrimp marinade)
  • Optional: Fresh lemon wedges for garnish
  • Dipping sauces (tartar sauce or cocktail sauce)

Instructions

  • Make Breading: In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs with a little flour, and season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat an egg.
  • Coat Shrimp: Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  • Fry Shrimp: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • You can make this recipe gluten-free by using gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
  • Adjust the seasoning according to your preference – adding chili powder for some heat is a great option!
  • For a lighter version, you can bake the shrimp and fries in the oven instead of frying.
