- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 medium potatoes, cut into fries
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (for shrimp marinade)
- Optional: Fresh lemon wedges for garnish
- Dipping sauces (tartar sauce or cocktail sauce)
Instructions
- Make Breading: In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs with a little flour, and season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat an egg.
- Coat Shrimp: Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
- Fry Shrimp: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- You can make this recipe gluten-free by using gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
- Adjust the seasoning according to your preference – adding chili powder for some heat is a great option!
- For a lighter version, you can bake the shrimp and fries in the oven instead of frying.
