Ingredients

For the Shrimp:
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
Taco Assembly:
  •
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1 ripe avocado sliced
  • ½ cup cilantro-lime crema or chipotle mayo
  • Lime wedges for serving
  • Fresh cilantro optional garnish

Method

  1. Make the Spice Mix: In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, thyme, oregano, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Season the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, then toss them with the spice blend until evenly coated.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until blackened and opaque.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Heat tortillas on a skillet or open flame until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Fill each tortilla with shrimp, slaw, avocado slices, a drizzle of crema or mayo, and a squeeze of lime.
  6. Serve Immediately: Garnish with cilantro and serve with extra lime wedges.
