How to Make Crunchy Shrimp Baskets at Home

These shrimp baskets are the ultimate seafood comfort food! Golden, crispy shrimp paired with homemade fries in a charming basket, served with a side of tartar or cocktail sauce for dipping.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb 450g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 medium potatoes cut into fries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice for shrimp marinade
  • Optional: Fresh lemon wedges for garnish
  • Dipping sauces tartar sauce or cocktail sauce

Method
 

  1. Make Breading: In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs with a little flour, and season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat an egg.
  2. Coat Shrimp: Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  3. Fry Shrimp: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • You can make this recipe gluten-free by using gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
